Water Quality Testing by NAFB

Water Quality Testing

Water quality has a direct correlation with fish health. It is essential to regularly test the water quality and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the health and well-being of the fish.

When testing the water quality for freshwater fish, ponds, and saltwater fish, the following parameters are assessed temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, salinity, general hardness (GH), carbonate hardness (KH), and heavy metals. We can also test chlorine, oxygen, and heavy metals in your incoming source water.

At the test's completion, we provide explanations and correction recommendations.

General Health Check-up Aquariums by NAFB

General Health Check-up: Aquariums

Consultations are designed to check your aquarium's general health with fish free from apparent disease or illness.

You can book general health check-ups for your aquarium anytime, but scheduling them during the spring or after introducing new fish is recommended. During the consultation, you will have an in-depth conversation regarding history, tank maintenance, routine care, nutrition, and filtration system.

The consultation includes water quality testing and examining three fish of your choice, but you may request additional fish to be examined.

It is important to note that for very small aquarium fish, the physical examination is limited to a visual examination, and some diagnostic tests may also be limited.

After your fish is examined, we'll write up a report with all of the information you need to help them stay healthy and happy. This will include details about what to do moving forward and any treatment options that might be necessary.

If disease or illness is observed at the beginning of the general health consultation, such as multiple fish with skin ulcers, the consultation will be converted to a sick fish consultation.

General Health Check-up: Ponds

Consultations are designed to check your pond's general health with fish free from apparent disease or illness.

Although general health checks can be scheduled at any point throughout the year, it is recommended to book them twice annually - before and after the winter season. Typically, October/November and April/May are optimal check-up months. However, the ideal timing may vary depending on the temperature and other environmental factors in a given year. Alternatively, if you prefer to have just one health check per year, it is advisable to schedule it during the spring season.
