Feeding Instructions

Feeding Instructions

Hikari Tropical Crab Cuisine is a daily diet for Hermit crabs, crayfish, shrimp, lobsters, tadpoles, and other scavengers in fresh and saltwater environments.

Hermit crabs have no regular dining routine. Rather, they tend to eat at varying intervals, from days to two weeks in length. For the best results, feed Hikari® Tropical Crab Cuisine® in a clean, shallow dish once a week. After 24 hours, remove uneaten food from the enclosure. Feed an amount equal to 2 grams of food (approximately a thimble full) for each hermit crab per feeding.

For lobsters, shrimp, underwater crawfish, and other aquatic scavengers feed one (1) to four (4) mini sticks twice daily based on size. Care should be taken to avoid over-feeding, and always remove uneaten food after the feeding period to avoid health-impacting water quality issues.

Hermit Crab Care & Maintenance: Proper care and feeding hermit crabs can live up to 10 years old. For optimum health, a clean environment free of debris and stagnant or soiled water is necessary. Hermit crabs require large amounts of clear, clean water as part of their feeding. Their water source should be changed daily. Ideally, the temperature of their enclosure should be 75°F (24°C) with higher humidity and free of rapid temperature changes or drafts.

Making Species Specific Diets for Decades!

Hikari, the "originator" of Species Specific and premium aquatics diets has been copied by many. Still, our loyal customers know they can always depend on our products to offer their aquatic pets the finest scientifically balanced nutrition we can muster. For almost 140 years, we've spent considerable time exploring the natural habitats of fish, breeding fish in our own facilities, producing diets in our own factories, processing every shipment through our own facilities, and researching the impact our diets have over time. These unique insights into the nutritional needs of fish give a competitive advantage no other fish food maker can duplicate and allow us to produce diets that will not only maintain your aquatic pets' health but assist you in keeping your aquarium or pond in top form.
