The Sunset Dwarf Gourami is a beautiful, peaceful freshwater fish known for its vibrant orange and red coloration. They are captivating fish that adds a splash of color and personality to a community aquarium. They are known for their inquisitive nature, often exploring their surroundings and interacting with other fish in a peaceful manner.
They grow up to 2-2.4 inches in length and are best kept in pairs or small groups. Males can display territorial behavior, especially during breeding, so providing them with ample space and hiding spots is crucial to minimize stress.
Sunset Dwarf Gouramis are compatible with other peaceful, similarly-sized fish. Good tank mates include small rasboras, tetras, and bottom dwellers like Corydoras and Otocinclus. Avoid housing them with aggressive or fin-nipping species.
Sunset Dwarf Gouramis are omnivores, and their diet should consist of high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
They are also relatively easy to care for and can thrive in a well-maintained aquarium with the right water conditions and diet. These fish thrive in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding spots, such as caves or dense plant thickets.
A tank size of at least 10 gallons is recommended. The water temperature should be between 72-82°F (22-28°C), with a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and a hardness of 4-12 dGH.
