Celestial Pearl Danio (Danio Margaritatus)
The Celestial Pearl Danio, also known as Galaxy Rasbora, is a stunning freshwater fish that will add a pop of color to any aquarium. These fish are known for their vibrant colors, with iridescent blue-green bodies and striking red spots.
This timid species is not a good choice for beginners. Celestial Pearl Danios are shy in their natural habitat. These fish like to hide among rocks and plants. Their ideal aquarium should contain heavy vegetation such as Elodea, Egeria, Java fern, Bacopa, and Rotala. Add floating plants like Water lettuce or Frogbit to provide top cover. Use darker colored substrate and include plenty of rocks for hiding. Don't use driftwood or leaf litter in the tank, as these release tannins into the water, which can be unhealthy for these Danios.
Celestial Pearl Danios also prefer to be kept in schools of 6 - 8, where they will feel more comfortable. Celestial Pearl Danios are small fish, typically reaching a maximum size of 1 inch. They prefer to swim in the middle to top levels of the aquarium.
When it comes to tank mate compatibility, Celestial Pearl Danios are peaceful fish that can be kept with other peaceful fish species. They are also compatible with small shrimp, making them a great addition to a planted shrimp tank.
Celestial Pearl Danios are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods, including flake, frozen, and live foods. Their diet should be supplemented with high-quality pellets or flakes to ensure they receive all necessary nutrients.
If you're looking to add these beautiful fish to your aquarium, Celestial Pearl Danios require a minimum tank size of 10 gallons (38 liters) and a pH range of 6.5-7.5. The water temperature should be kept between 72-78°F (22-26°C), and the hardness range should be between 3-10 dGH.
