The L018 Gold Nugget Pleco is a strikingly beautiful fish that stands out in any aquarium due to its vibrant colors and unique patterns. It features medium-sized gold spots that contrast beautifully against its dark body. These spots are evenly distributed across its body and fins, creating a stunning visual effect that resembles a starry night sky. The adult size of this fish ranges from 8 to 10 inches, making it a medium-sized addition to your tank.

The Gold Nugget Pleco personality is generally peaceful and somewhat shy. It prefers to keep to itself, often hiding among rocks and plants during the day and becoming more active at night. However, it can show territorial aggression towards other bottom-dwelling fish, especially those of the same species.

Gold Nugget Plecos are not a schooling or shoaling fish, and it is best to keep only one in a tank to avoid territorial disputes. Ideal tank mates for this fish include peaceful mid to top-dwelling species such as Tetras, peaceful Barbs, Rainbowfish, and Gouramis. However, keeping them with aggressive bottom dwellers like some Cichlids or other Plecos is not advisable.

When it comes to diet, the Gold Nugget Pleco is an omnivore. It feeds on algae and biofilm in the aquarium but also requires a diet supplemented with high-quality sinking pellets, fresh vegetables, and occasional protein sources like bloodworms or brine shrimp.

The ideal habitat for a Gold Nugget Pleco is a well-decorated aquarium with plenty of hiding spots. They appreciate a substrate of fine sand or smooth gravel, along with driftwood for them to rasp on. Live plants, smooth rocks of varying sizes, and caves are also appreciated for providing cover. They will do best in warm, well-oxygenated water with moderate to strong currents. The lighting should be moderate to mimic their natural habitat in the Amazon River.

In terms of water parameters, the Gold Nugget Pleco requires a minimum aquarium size of 55 gallons due to its adult size and activity level. For a community aquarium, a tank of at least 75 gallons is recommended to provide ample space for all inhabitants. The ideal pH range for this fish is between 6.5 and 7.5. The water hardness should be within the range of 5 to 15 dGH, and a temperature of 80-86°F (27-30°C).
